How to Configure Multilevel Child History in Salesforce with HyperGrid XRL
Quickly access the record change info- who changed what and when, in Related Items from parent record.
Introduction
Salesforce offers a History Tracking feature that allows Salesforce users to track specific fields and changes made to those fields. If the history tracking feature is enabled, any update made to the field is tracked through the History Related List. Field History Tracking saves field history data, providing you with a logged list of this vital information.
So, when users need to find out what changed in the record, who made changes etc., they can go back and find out what changed in the Related object.
HyperGrid XRL history tracking allows for a 2-level lookup of history tracking. Discover updates more quickly by using the date range, the field changed, and the values, and directly accessing changes made to any item in a child from the parent record.
It also allows you to review when a field was updated, as well as its before and after values, and understand what to do if any future errors occur.
This tutorial will demonstrate:
- How to set up a History Related List in XRL.
- How the History Related Lists show the updates in the child records on the parent record page.
As an example, you will learn how to configure CasesHistory Related Lists with HyperGrid on a "Test Account" record page and how the History Related Lists table is updated whenever you change any field in any record.
Which type of user can perform the basic configuration?
The Salesforce Admin or Admin-like user can set up the History Related List in XRL. After an admin has done the configuration of History Related Lists in XRL, the Salesforce users in the org will be able to access the History Related Lists and analyze the changes.
Prerequisite For the users to be able to track and view history of an object, the Salesforce admin needs to enable the Field history tracking for that field in Object Setup. To know more about field history tracking, click here. |
