Introduction

Orenda Grids- Extended Related List or XRL is a no-code/low-code solution that empowers users to reduce dependency on admin-controlled standard data views in Salesforce such as  Related Lists, List views etc with self-configurable and customizable ones.

In this article, you will understand how to install the Orenda Grids application in your Salesforce org, manage licenses and give permissions to the users and start with the configuration of Orenda Grids.

Tip: Before installing the Orenda Grids application, make sure that you already have a Salesforce account. You also need to be a Salesforce Admin to perform the installation. Orenda Grids application is supported in following Salesforce® editions: 

  • Professional
  • Enterprise
  • Performance
  • Unlimited

 

Installation 

Orenda Grids- Extended Related List can be easily installed to your org through AppExchange. Following through the steps, you would be able to get Orenda Grids components in your Salesforce org and be able to assign users who can access Orenda Grids in the org.

Procedure

Step 1: Log in to your Salesforce account.

Step 2: Go to the Salesforce App exchange link as shown below: https://appexchange.salesforce.com/listingDetail?listingId=a0N3u00000Qt73nEAB&tab=e      

 

Step 3: Click Get it now.

 

Step 4: Select the installation option Production or Sandbox or Trial Org as appropriate. 

 

Step 5: Select the checkbox “I have read and agree to the terms and conditions” and click Install.

 

Step 6: Select the appropriate option.

  • Install for all users: This is used if you need to install and give permissions to all the users in the org.
  • Install for Admins Only: Select this option if you want to make Orenda Grids components available for Salesforce Admin in your respective organization.
  • Install for Specific Profiles: This option allows you to decide which custom profiles in your org can access Orenda Grids components. You can specify whether each profile has full access to the new package and all of its components or none. 

 

Step 7: Once you have selected an option, click Install. The installation process takes a few minutes. Click Done when it's complete.         

Results 

Click Setup. Search Installed Packages in the “Quick Find” search box to find the installed Extended Related List package.

 

Manage Licenses

Now that Orenda Grids- Extended Related Lists is installed in your Salesforce org, you have to manage the licenses and give permissions to required users. By default, the user who has installed the package will automatically get assigned to the license.

Procedure

Step 1: Under Setup->Installed Packages, click on the Extended Related List package.          
 

Step 2: A new window is displayed which shows the details of the installed package. Click Manage Licenses.

 

Results

 

The details of all the licensed users are displayed. Click Add Users and select the Users you want the License assigned to. Otherwise, click Remove multiple users to remove them.

 

Permission Sets

The details of all the licensed users are displayed. Click Add Users and select the Users you want the License assigned to. Otherwise, click Remove multiple users to remove them. A permission set is a set of some specific settings that allow users to expand their functional access without changing profiles.  Through permission sets, an admin allows different Orenda Grids capabilities to different Users.

Orenda Grids has two types of permission sets:

Extended Related List  Permission Set

Standard User Access

Power User Access

Main differences among the types of Users in Orenda Grids- XRL are as follows:

  • Std Salesforce Admin: These set of users can install and do the initial setup of Orenda Grids- Extended Related Lists such as managing license, and permission sets and adding XRL components to a page through AppBuilder, adding more than one instance of a single Related List on a page.
  • Power Users: These are the Salesforce users with XRL_admin permission set who can access additional functionality of Orenda Grids such as field level settings, custom and default action settings, Related List view customization and formatting, and more.
  • Standard Users: These are Salesforce users with XRL_Standard User permission set who can access some of the basic view Related List functionality such as applying filters, exports, defining multiple views, etc.

 

The next step is to enable permission sets for the users through the given procedure.

 

Procedure

Step 1: From the Managed Licenses page, click on any User listed in the Licensed Users tab.  Alternatively, you can also go to the All Users page in the User tab and select any User you want to assign XRL-specific permission sets.


 

Step 2: Click on the Permission Set Assignments tab, and then click Edit Assignments.    
 

  
 

Step 3: Select a permission set from the list of Available Permission Sets, then click Add to assign it. Select the assignment under Enabled Permission Sets and click Remove to remove it. Click Save.      
 

 

Results

You will be redirected to the home screen and see that XRL_Admin has been added to the Permission Set.
